As of Nov 1, 2006, 8 TIHKAL chemicals are controlled under Schedule I of the United States Controlled Substances Act. Other chemicals in TIHKAL may be considered Controlled Substances Analogues if they are intended for human consumption. The DEA is considering additional scheduling as well as redefining the term "positional isomer" in Schedule I to include more of the chemicals found in TIHKAL and PIHKAL.
